At Uniformity & DM Graphics, we believe that meaningful work has the power to transform lives. That belief drives our ongoing mission to build a workplace that is inclusive, understanding, and empowering for all—especially individuals with disabilities.
We are proud to share our partnership with New Horizons, a local nonprofit that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through this collaboration, we’ve taken important steps to become a deaf-friendly and disability-conscious environment—and we’re just getting started.
A Personal Connection: Why This Matters to Us
For the owners of Uniformity, this work is not just professional—it’s personal. Their young son lives with disabilities, and their experience as parents has shaped how they run their business, treat their team, and give back to the community.
They understand firsthand the challenges families face when it comes to finding inclusive spaces that offer patience, support, and real opportunity. This understanding has become the foundation for how Uniformity builds its team and cultivates its workplace culture.
Working with New Horizons: Empowerment Through Employment
Our partnership with New Horizons has helped us welcome individuals from the deaf and disabled communities into the workplace with open arms. With their support, we’ve trained team members on basic sign language, restructured some communication workflows, and created safe spaces where everyone feels heard—regardless of how they communicate.
Through New Horizons, we’ve also received guidance on how to better accommodate employees with diverse learning styles and sensory needs, ensuring that no one is left behind.
What It Means to Be a Deaf-Friendly Business
Becoming a deaf-friendly business isn’t just about checking a box—it’s about intentionally fostering connection. At Uniformity, that means:
Providing visual instructions and signage in the workplace
Encouraging team training on basic ASL (American Sign Language)
Emphasizing non-verbal communication methods in daily operations
Building a culture of respect, patience, and teamwork
When we say we’re inclusive, we mean it in action—not just words.
Inclusion Is the Uniform We All Wear
Every stitch, every shirt, and every design we create carries a greater purpose. By opening our doors to individuals with disabilities and collaborating with organizations like New Horizons, we’re helping prove that inclusion is good for business—and great for community.
This is part of our commitment as a Los Angeles Legacy Business and a reflection of who we are: a family-run business, rooted in compassion, dedicated to making a difference.
